Being a parent is one of the most rewarding yet challenging roles in life! Bristol Family Hubs run parenting courses to help parents and carers understand their children’s feelings better and how they can support their children through the years as they develop and grow.

Circle of Security

9-week course about creating healthy early childhood attachments. For parents/carers of a child aged between 0-5 years.

Circle of Security will give you the tools and support to understand how to:

  • support your child’s emotional needs
  • create feelings of security and satisfaction for you and your child
  • read your child’s behaviour and learn about classic cues which are often subtle and misleading
  • explore your parenting approach and childhood experiences that might help you look differently at your own mental wellbeing

Parenting Puzzle

4-week course about learning new skills and gaining confidence. For parents/carers of a child between 0-5 years.

The Parenting Puzzle will give you the tools to understand:

  • your children’s behaviours
  • how to use positivity, praise, and encouragement
  • how to best deal with stress and conflict

Toddler Incredible Years

12-week course dealing with challenging behaviour. For parents/carers of a child aged between 1-3 years.

The Incredible Years® Parent Programs help parents meet the social and emotional needs of young children. The programs strengthen parenting skills and fosters involvement in children’s lives to promote children’s academic, social and emotional competencies and reduce conduct problems.

The parent programs focus on strengthening parent-child interactions and attachment, reducing harsh discipline and fostering parents’ ability to promote children’s social, emotional, and language development.

The Nurturing Programme

10-week course explaining why children behave the way they do. For parents/carers of a child aged 2-8 years.

The Nurturing Programme provides adults and children with the understanding, skills and ability to lead emotionally healthy lives, build resilience, empathy, self-esteem and support positive relationships.

The Nurturing Programme was developed to address and use the following four constructs as building blocks of emotionally healthy relationships:

  • Self-awareness
  • Appropriate expectations
  • Empathy
  • Positive discipline

Welcome to the World

5-week course for parents-to-be to help you feel confident about the first year of your baby’s life. From 22 weeks of pregnancy onwards.

Welcome to the World explores:

  • Understanding your baby and baby’s brain development.
  • Your future as parents and as a family.
  • Your roots, traditions, hopes and fears for the future.
  • Infant feeding and practical tasks of caring for a new baby.
  • Practical skills – safer sleep, bath time and changing nappies.
