Touch is the first sense a baby develops when in utero and skin to skin contact as soon as possible after birth has many positive benefits to mother and baby. Skin to skin contact is important in stimulating the release of breastfeeding and love hormones which help milk production, it supports bonding and it encourages babies natural feeding behaviours.
This week we are sharing a resource from the Unicef website with information and a video about the benefits of skin to skin contact and relationship building with your baby.
